Poem 2

Fire and ice is simple and yet powerful linguistic art of Robert Frost, which explains about the destruction of the world in TWO possible way. This above video will help you to understand the poem more clearly with animation.

Some say the world will end in fire
 Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.

But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
 Is also great
And would suffice.

                                                                                                ROBERT FROST

The world is going to end, everything will be destroyed and nothing will be left, this the theme the poem. Fire and ice is a short nine line poem. It is a popular literary piece on account of its contradictory subject matter of earth's destruction and the ending. The poem expresses the profound idea, that the world would end in one of two ways either by ice or by fire.

Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
 Is also great
And would suffice.

Everyone knows the world will end someday, but know one knows how.  This poem Fire and Ice predicts the worlds destruction though Fire and Ice and to bring the idea into human domain, the speaker links the idea to human emotion. Fire in this poem is 'desire' and and ice is 'hate'. The speaker has experienced them both. Initially the speaker supports those who are in favour of fire but as the poem progresses he remains undecided and mention that if the world ends twice, ice can bring equal destruction as fire.
